Kolkatta brightens up for a
LINGERIE TRADE FAIR

As the shadows of the evening lengthened the speed of the work also increased. Twenty brands, about 100 labels and more than 5,000 samples of lingerie : fancy bridal sets, every day bras, panties, slips and camisoles, Nightsuits, Pyjama sets, Lounge wear, teddies, track pants, slacks, children innerwear and loungewear, socks, hankies were being arranged on racks, hanger stands, dressed up on mannequins awaiting their buyers the next day.

Twenty leading brand and several new upstarts were part of the mission to explore the eastern market that had actually begun when we announced the first All India Bodywear Meet this year at Guwahati early this year under the agesis of 3rd AIBM.

New Brands on the Horizon :
Several new brands like Le Chic, Desmond Joyce, Every day bras from Varun Hosiery, Cocoberry from KCJ Apparels, Damro from Damro International, Featherline from SS Lingerie, Romance by VK Bajaj, Sleeping Story by Areena Enterprise were the first time participants. Along side you saw the veteran brands like Zoom Floret, Zoom Mini Mondo, Zoom Riveria, Chic Carrismo, Valentine Nightwear, Vimal Fashions, Skin wrap putting up a good performance here in Kolkatta.
 
Since this time we weren't going to hold the fashion show, but the event was full of promise, because the market has amply matured by then and several new players were knocking at the eastern doors.
 
The Eastern Markets :

Other brands that participated here were Trimes Nightwear from Mumbai and Barun Socks from Delhi and Touche lingerie from Kolkatta. Kolkatta has been an integral market in the east and the centre were the hosiery industry was born in the early eighteen century, so every one has link either in the form of trading, distribution or plain whole-selling here. The fair came at the fag end of the booking season, so it ensured that this was the last trade fair for the Puja and Ramadin festival bookings. The manufactures were quite apprehensive initially of the kind of response it would generate inspite of the fact that no major brands was participating this time. This apprehension turned into hope and all the retailers began trickling in one by one past noon.
